You know that writing in your gratitude journal is important. It helps reduce stress, it helps us feel more present, and it helps us manifest miracles into our lives! HELLO! Talk about a win win!

However, you might be wondering the best time to write in your gratitude journal. And I am going to tell you!

Your Brainwaves Determines The Best Time to Write

When understanding when to Write in a Gratitude Journal: Morning or Night, you actually have to understand something that happens in your brain – brainwaves. According to Sinha Clinic, “brainwaves are electrical impulses in the brain. All brainwaves are produced by synchronized electrical pulses from masses of neurons communicating with each other. Our brainwaves occur at various frequencies. Some are fast and some are slow.” There are five different kinds of brainwave patterns are, Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta. Don’t worry! You aren’t being initiated into some sorority.

The brainwave states we’re really interested in are the beta, alpha, and theta states. Beta is the active brainwave state. It’s when we are in conversation, making decisions, problem-solving, focusing on doing something, etc. It’s when our conscious minds are in full gear. The next one is Alpha. This one is when we’re relaxed. It is when we’re focused on reading or crafting, or maybe watching TV. And there’s Theta. Theta occurs when we’re in a major daydream or when we’re about to fall asleep or just waking up.

The Best Time to Write in Your Gratitude Journal

So here’s the thing. As we slip into the Theta and Alpha states, our brains are more open to receiving new information and not rejecting it. That’s because when we’re doing things like watching TV, when we’re about to fall asleep, or we’ve just woken up, we stop using our conscious minds to overanalyze things? We turn off our rational thinking.

So, to answer this question in a very long winded way of When to Write in a Gratitude Journal: Morning or Night… it’s actually both. But more specifically, it’s when you are in the alpha or theta states – when your brain isn’t in high gear.

Think about it! When you’re using the Free Printable Gratitude Worksheet, you are writing about being grateful for the things you want to manifest, as if they have already happened. Knowing that, you absolutely can bet that your conscious, reasoning, mind is ready to fight back. It wants to let you know just how much those things are NOT possible for you. Amiright?! Otherwise known as your limiting beliefs.

Therefore, by being in a state where your conscious mind isn’t at full capacity – i.e. in a Beta brainwave state – you’re more likely to accept it as the truth. Are you with me? Now that you know, I know you are going to be putting your gratitude journal knowledge to the test from now on! Ready, set, go!
